The good folks behind the Peabody Awards did history a solid by presenting Beyonc yet another accolade this week.
Her sixth studio album, Lemonade, has already won itself Grammy awards, Emmy nominations, and MTV Video Music awards and now Bey can add a Peabody Entertainment Award to the shelves.
“Lemonade draws from the prolific literary, musical, cinematic, and aesthetic sensibilities of black cultural producers to create a rich tapestry of poetic innovation,” the committee wrote online.
“The audacity of its reach and fierceness of its vision challenges our cultural imagination, while crafting a stunning and sublime masterpiece about the lives of women of color and the bonds of friendship seldom seen or heard in American popular culture,” they explained.
In order for a program to receive a Peabody, it must have unanimous approval from the board of jurors, and critically acclaimed shows like FX’s Atlanta and Better Things, Louis C.K.s Horace and Pete, and HBO’s Veep are among the other winners of the entertainment award this year.
What a year for Yonc. And congrats to the twins for their new toy.
